Young-of-the-year Shortnose Gar (Lepisosteus platostomus)

Larger of two young-of-the-year Shortnose Gar (Lepisosteus platostomus) dipnetted from a lake connected to the Des Plaines River near Joliet, IL. June 2016. Length approximately 3 cm. I had planned to bring them home alive, but neither one survived the trip. Placed in vials of preservative, then photographed on white Tyvek. 90mm macro.
